For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1927 Parker Senior Duofold Fountain Pen in Lapis with Blue on Blue coloring with extremely rare wide cap banding. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.
The Blue on Blue Lapis color is known as a first year model Senior Duofold in this color that first started production in 1927. In 1928 the Senior Duofold has the White on Blue coloring, which is more commonly seen.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and NIB. Replaced the old sac with a new Silicone sac to help preserve the color. Hand polished the Gold Filled Parker Clip, Wide Cap Banding, and 14K Duofold NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel, blind cap and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the material of the fountain pen. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.
The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEPT 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine bright - just a touch a brassing on the high point of the ball of the clip. This Parker Sr. Duofold has the extremely uncommon wide cap banding that displays rich gold filled color with no brassing. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER DUOFOLD FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE, WIS LUCKY CURVE U.S.A. PAT 4-25-11". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The color of this Parker is exceptional with the scarce Blue of Blue pattern.
This Senior Duofold has a button filling mechanism and I have tested with water and fills as it should. Works fantastic and as designed to.
The Parker Senior Duofold NIB is 14K that writes extremely smoothly. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .82mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .69mm and the broad line measures at 1.04mm with medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is an Iconic vintage Parker Duofold Fountain Pen in the senior size. It is a scarce Senior Duofold due to the 1st Year Blue on Blue pattern coupled with the very uncommon Wide Cap Banding which it makes for a rare collector grade fountain pen. I would consider this Parker grade in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
